Collaborative Origins is a coffee importer that aims to create relationships between producers and roasters, through sourcing coffee transparently and honorably.
Collaborative Origins needed an explainer video to tell the story of how their process helps coffee farmers.
We introduce Santiago, his family, and their environment with a warm and relaxed character style. The foliage and color palette were inspired by vibrant Guatemala, and the fluid gradients resemble a summers day.
Coffee farmers traditionally don’t receive payment until the end of the harvest, so they often have to sell half upfront for a lower price. This can put them in a tight spot.
Collaborative Origins created a model that allows roasters to partner with them to help alleviate the stress on farmers. Each bag sold ensures that farmers will receive 50% of the value ahead of the harvest. We introduce this with our large red coffee cherry, halfway filled.
We convey the benefits of this pre-buy model by bringing together the roaster and the farmer, visualizing the collaborative relationship.
